My specialty? River cruising. I first fell in love with the rhythm of rivers while living in Europe as a (very lucky!) military wife. My husband was stationed in Holland, so I got to meander among the country’s famous canals. Life there revolved around the rivers, with everyone living, dining, and doing business on the water. The ebbs and flows of river life pulled me in—and soon I was sailing the Seine all the way to Paris, climbing up turreted castles in Germany on a Moselle River cruise, and drifting down the Danube for a heart-wrenching visit to the Mauthausen concentration camp. As a small town girl from upstate New York, I never thought I’d get to see so much. I had no idea how much this world had to offer, and I could feel my worldview expanding each time I stepped off the ship. Today, I’d love to share that with you. After more than 35 years in the travel industry, I’ve come to believe that river cruising is simply the very best way to explore.
